They will fight no mater what you do...roosters are territorial and they will not let another rooster get near his hens...the only thing that people who fight them do is put blades on their spurs...trust me they will fight anything...another rooster, cat, you...lol

It is natural instict. However the birds are selectively bred so that the most defensive and aggressive birds are kept for fighting, as this aggression gives them a competitive edge. It is just the same as natural selection in nature; desired traits live on while undesirable traits are killed off. The difference is that in the case of fighting birds, humans are deciding the traits and selecting which birds will be kept, not nature. But the principles are the same. The ones that are used to fight are those that have a natural tendency to be highly aggressive, so thus it's more a matter of keeping them healthy and under the right conditions than it is training.

It's both. It is instinctive for them to fight other males. By allowing them to see but not interact (fight) with other males they get angrier and are more prepared to fight to the death. I'm sure that there must be some "training" involved -- but I do not know what that is. I think that attaching little razors to their ankles helps them to kill opponents, too.

It's natural for them to fight over territory, females, etc, however fowl aren't particularly smart so I doubt there is any training involved. They're territorial and placed in a situation where they're terrified, so their first instinct is to fight.
