Maybe it is best that you go to him and confront him about the issue. Sometimes it is hard for people to say that they like you but if you tell him that you like him maybe it would give him a little more courage. And so what if he does not tell you, you know he likes you so he will come around to telling you. if he is not ready to do that yet. Wait on him.

Well, he's not ready to tell you. Be patient. Attempting to have a relationship with someone is not all about YOU. You didn't even mention how you feel about him. If you like him and you let him know, he'll feel more comfortable with telling you. If you don't feel the same way, let it go. Don't string him along by trying to get him to admit it.

Well, he obviously is afraid of rejection. How do you act around him, do you give him little signs that you are definitely interested?? It seems like he is telling your friends because he is not confident enough to tell YOU...you need to flirt so he will feel more confident! : )

write him a letter and if he doesn't answer. then call him and ask him point out blank if he says he doesn't know who you are then go on your way and ignore your friends. Chances are they could be doing it just to mess with you and telling this guy that you like him.

Why press the issue with words--start getting more involved in his life, and make him show that he likes you. Don't ever listen to what he says! You can make this happen, but not by arguing about it.

Wait..... he sounds insecure and maybe a bit immature, so just give him time, till he's confident enough to talk to you.
