They may come faster and more painlessly but it takes about 9 months to develop fully.

yes the longer the gestation the more likely the baby has the time to fully develop. I have 4 children and i went all 9 months with them all. I know by 9 months your ready to be done with being pregnant. but it's for the best.

I have 4 kids, first delivery was twin boys(birth at 35wks) (they are 15yrs old now) second delivery(3rd child) my daughter, more than 2 wks overdue, third delivery(4th and last child) my son, showed up almost 3wks overdue weighing in at 9lbs 12 ounces.
I think what you are thinking of is labor......labor does tend to get shorter with each child as your body has gone through it before...but this is not true in every case. All of my labors have been considerably short, none of them lasting longer than 6 hours, my labor with my last child(he is 4 now) was only about 2 hours long.
hope I helped some
have a great day!

Well I can't tell you from personal experiecne b/c I still have 4 weeks to my due date. However, my mother says I was 2 weeks late and my brother was 2 days early. Based on the size of my baby, I'm pretty sure I won't make it to my due date.
Good Luck

Yes, you do last the whole 9 months. It is a little better because you know what to expect.

babies come when they are ready no matter if it's your 1st or your 5th....my first baby was born 5 weeks before my due date and my second baby was born 2 days before my due date....
and that whole thing about second baby comes faster with less pain is a myth...my first baby was 7 hours with almost no pain she came out very easy and it didnt really hurt....my second was almost 14 hours and ten times more painful then the first!!
