1) At least 2 week, but only if the mating went smoothly. A month is a better time line.

2)Not really. Females are aggressive enough with other females. In the presence of a male they tend to fight more. Also females will eat eggs. Lastly once a male has mated he drives away all females to defend his nest.

3)No this is very common, and the only way you can reliably produce a colors, and fin traits. Generally you can go 5-10 generation breeding siblings. The offspring will suffer defects from inbreeding, but you are talking 100s of offspring. Even if half need to be culled you've got a lot of betta.

4)Females should be removed after breeding. The male will likely injure or kill her. She may decide to eat the eggs. The male tends the nest. Once the fry are free swimming he needs to be remove as he'll eat them.

1. about a month.
2. I wouldn't recommend it, breeding take a lot out of bettas and they need time to recover. they often have injuries and need to be treated.
3. no, it's preferred. it keeps the genes more pure. you can breed families for a while befoer you encounter problems.
4. when the males start to flare put them in their own jars. the females can stay together unless there are a lot, then you need to move them to a bigger tank once they start to grow.

any other questions try bettatalk.com they have good info, it's where I turn to when I don't know what to do.

#1 - Males can breed whenever they have bubble nests. A male may make a bubble nest as soon as a week after leaving his fry. Females should be given at least one or two months' rest before conditioning for breedining again.

#2 - The male will probably not breed with two females at the same time.

#3 - It isn't wrong, people do it to bring out and exentuate certain characteristics. However, on the whole, it diminishes the quality of the gene pool. It's called inbreeding - guppies and neon tetras went through it and now they are relatively week fish.

#4 - You take the female out as soon as the male has squeezed her eggs out. You take the male out as soon as theeggs hatch.

a million. you may replace 25% of the water weekly in a typical stocked huge tank. in case you preserve it in a bowl then doing 50% is necessarry. bear in mind a clear out. 2. The temperature could be around 26C/79F extra or much less. you choose a heater. 3. it quite is relatively quite ordinary to locate a ill fish. they are going to oftentimes lose coloration, have cloudy eyes, shredded tails or fins, fungus on their physique, is basically no longer swimming plenty etc. 4. Sorry, yet i do no longer think of a fish is extremely sturdy for petting. Your palms could incorporate some thing grimy like oils, and your will harm his slime coat. A fish oftentimes do no longer choose to be touched. i do no longer think of it quite is any relaxing to puppy a betta the two..
