What is Gutter margin in MS office ?

The gutter is that area of the margin in which the printer cannot print. Not just that it is set NOT to print, but that the printer is INCAPABLE of printing in this area.

I think it is the extra margin you need if you are going to put on a spiral (or similar) binding.

In other words it will put a bigger margin on the left hand side of odd pages and on the right hand side of even pages

I'm pretty sure you can choose different values, suggesting it is't printer related.
