No, it's not a pretty picture, but it is not intended to be. It's very serious. These effects are not temporary; they can cause a lifetime of physical and emotional pain --not to mention expense. FAS is a large price to pay for a few drinks during pregnancy.
If you are pregnant, don't take a chance with your baby's future; stop drinking immediately. If you have tried to stop and find that you just cannot seem to give it up, help and support are available

Have you ever heard of the syndrome called Fetal Alcohol Syndrome? Well what it does is it causes the babies brain not to fully devlope and then you get a hole in your babies brain and it totally screws over your kids life because they be able to do anything themselves. For example drinking could cause the kid not being able to walk or even eat by themselves. My health teacher told me that there was this one baby who had a whole bunch of tubes running through the baby just to keep it alive. So if you don't want your kid to end up with that kind of disabilty don't drink while you are pregnant and tell or ask your husband not to drink while you are pregnant with your baby and ask your family for support as well.

Drinking alcohol during pregnancy can cause physical and mental birth defects. Each year, more than 40,000 babies are born with some degree of alcohol related damage. Although many women are aware that heavy drinking during pregnancy can cause birth defects, many do not realize that moderate—or even light—drinking also may harm the fetus.

In fact, no level of alcohol use during pregnancy has been proven safe. Therefore, the March of Dimes recommends that pregnant women do not drink any alcohol—including beer, wine, wine coolers and hard liquor— throughout their pregnancy and while nursing. In addition, because women often do not know they are pregnant for a few months, women who may be pregnant or those who are attempting to become pregnant should abstain from alcoholic beverages.

Women who continue to drink alcohol, even in small amounts, while attempting to become pregnant, may reduce their chances of conceiving, according to recent studies.

When a pregnant woman drinks, alcohol passes swiftly through the placenta to her baby. In the unborn baby’s immature body, alcohol is broken down much more slowly than in an adult’s body. As a result, the alcohol level of the baby’s blood can be even higher and can remain elevated longer than the level in the mother’s blood. This sometimes causes the baby to suffer lifelong damage.

Nothing good can come of drinking while you are pregnant.
I hope you can understand why now.

Anything that the mother consumes, the baby consumes, so if the mother is drinking or smoking then so is the baby. Because a baby is so small, the alcohol affects it much much more, doing all the damage in one go that would take years of heavy drinking in an adult. It can stop their brain from developing properly and cause serious damage.

drinking and doing drugs can affect your baby big time.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome affects include:
* smaller head
* deformed facial features
* abnormal joints and limbs
* poor coordination
* problems with learning
* short memories
* at risk for drug and sexual abuse when the child gets older

drugs are bad for your baby because if you do drugs while pregnant, your baby can come out addictied to the drug you take. i'm not kidding. they experience whithdrawl symptoms just like the rest of us when we don't get our drug. seizures, excessive crying, and intense pain will occur. about 11% of babies born in the US are addicted to some illicit drug. when the mom takes a hit of whatever drug, the effect may lat only minutes. for the baby, it is in its system for two weeks. this can suffocate it breifly. when the child grows up, it can exhibit signs of violence and low focus levels.

i ask you, what do you want more? a martini, or a hit; or a healthy, fully developed baby?
