I have been contracting just about every 5 minutes or less but its not progressing much. i have been contracting since 5:00 this morning. Already went to the hospitol they sent me home because i was only 2 centemeters dialated. Please help me with some ideas. I dont know if i am able to have sex because i have already lost my mucus plug and i dont know if that can affect the baby.

U can do squats and sit that way for a bit it puts pressure on the cervix from the weight of the baby. Walking can also help!

Walk, take a bath, sex ( you can still have sex if your water hasn't broken yet and you can have sex when you've lost your mucous plug since some woman lose theirs a few weeks before labor). Try cleaning or taking a bath....the baby is on it's way maybe you should just rest and if you can't do that do as much as you can to prepare for the baby. Good luck! Wish I was in your place right now, I'm 37 weeks and I don't think I can wait any longer.

ha!! i was exactly where you were almost 4 weeks ago...they sent me home and everything...i was in labor for 54 hours. There is nothing and i mean NOTHING you can do to speed it up its all in the baby. You have a long hall so what i will suggest is getting some rest....(at least lay down and close ou eyes, i know its hard to sleep). I didn't and by the time i had her i was completely drained and my eyes were black (bad for pics). You need to stay hydrated and just relax....its gonna get ALOT worse....30sec apart and about 1 1/2 min long...OUCH!!
you won't want to go back until the contractions are 1-2 min apart for 1-2 hours or your water has broken (this is what my Dr and hospital told me)...you want to be at home so you can be more comfortable anyways....

You absolutely CAN have sex after loosing your mucus plug- Just not after your water breaks! The plug is just sealing the cervix opening! As long as your membranes havent ruptured, there is no reason not to have sex. semen softens the cervix! My plug has been gone for 4 weeks now and I have been at a 2 for that long as well. I am almost 1 week overdue and have tried everything. When the babe isn't ready, there's nothin you can do! Good luck hopefully you have your baby in your arms soon!!!

No sex after losing the mucous plug! Walk as much as possible. If you have a basketball or something like that, you can squat down on it (sounds wierd, but can help). Spicy foods don't work (think about it- if that were true, then all of the little mexican babies would be premature!) and DON'T drink castor oil. Women claim that this works because it induces cramps, but they are usually digestive cramps because castor oil will give you the runs!

Walking seems to be the going consensus, and I definitely agree. I also agree that with the loss of your mucous plug, sex is not an option as you are at a greater risk for infection. You may want to try some light house work. That did the trick for me with my first child. If it is your first child, labor may take some time, but sounds like you are progressing normally. Another bit of advice that I would like to share, as hard as it may be, is to try and relax. Tension tends to slow things and if you can meditate or find something that is relaxing to you, you may want to try it. Good luck to you...congratulations!

If you lost the mucus plug, forget sex, HOWEVER- A very hot shower, will definately do the trick. Be ready to leave the hospital when you get out. I went from 2 to 10 centimenters in a 15 minute shower (I was at the hospital, there idea in order to move things along, it did) CONGRATULATIONS

infections to you baby can occur
yes i would just agree with the others they say walking is the best
if you dont have a big house and it cold outside i know it is here, go to a walmart or a big store and you can walk all over

DO NOT take a bath or have sex -- damn, having sex was the last thing on my mind when I went into labor! Only WALK, WALK, WALK and then WALK some more. Good luck.
