On some computers the BIOS is configured to follow a particular boot sequence when an error occurs. Normally a bad keyboard or mouse will result in the computer trying to boot off of a network.
1. Check your BIOS settings and make sure that:
a. Your hard disk is being detected
b. Your hard disk is the only device in the boot sequence
c. The error boot sequence and automcatic boot sequences are turned off
If that fails, open the case, turn the computer on and try to feel if the hard disk is spinning. This will also be dependant upon being detected in your system BIOS.
If the hard disk is not spinning or is not being detected in the BIOS, the controller might be bad on the drive or the interface on the mainboard. Normally the hard drive controller goes bad.
But do check your keyboard or mouse.

You lost the system files, to fix that do the followings: if the partition is FAT32 boot up computer with floppy start up disk it should boot up to drive a:\ when it is on drive a:\ type the followings
a:\ sys.com c: press enter
wait few seconds then the computer will show
system transferred then remove the floppy turn off computer then turn it on it will start unless the hard drive has more problem than that this way you restore the system files which is command.com
now the bad news if the partition is NTFS that stands for
New Technology File System.if the partition this type you have to format the hard drive to get the system running.
Good luck

You have experienced a full system "crash". Something or someone has damaged your harddrive, processor...from too much heat...or a direct electrical surge...someone plugging into a bad socket in the wall..etc. Yes, find out if you have warranty on anything...processor...or harddrive.....and give them a call...should be with paperwork you received when you bought the computer. Most warranty for 3 years. You will just have to check..sounds FATAL>.............

Somehow your harddrive reformatted itself. Enter the operating system disk in the disc drive and hit F8 and hold it down to reinstall the OS again.
