A movie in this day and age in which I can compare a character in a movie to Hamlet. Cannot compare Shakespeare to Shakespeare.

You need to find one who's depressed, and little crazy, and hell-bent on revenge.
Does it have to be really modern? I'd say maybe you could compare Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights. It's based on a book written in the 1800's and has several movie versions. The latest movie version was 1992 I believe, starring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche.
