Although many cultures were embraced and recognized by the new establishment of self-determination, many of these new countries did not have the political clout nor economic support to maintain themselves. When the depression followed, many of these countries did not receive the international backing they would have needed to maintain themselves. Hungary, Poland, and Rumania are great examples for this due to how they were sandwiched between the USSR and Germany as well as how they did not have any consistent classical liberal leadership. Fortunately, those peoples did have one escape route which appealed to everyone no matter what dire straits they were in - migrating to America.
