Looking for job in fine jewelry (Houston/Galveston). He knows jewelry, watches, & pens, but where to start?

My husband knows more about fine jewelry and watches than most sales people, but is having a hard time getting hired because he doesn't have experience in sales and because he is male. Any suggestions?
