My four month old has the same issue. I asked the pediatrician about it and he said that it looked like the doctor who performed the circumcision at the hospital did not remove enough of the foreskin (it doesn't even look like he was circumcised at all).
We have an appointment to consult a specialist (pediatric urologist). From my initial conversation with them, it sounds like you can either leave it alone or have it re-circumcised. The re-circumcision involves general anesthesia and is performed when the baby is between 9 and 12 months of age.
It's a difficult decision to make, leave your son with a weird looking half circumcision or go through surgery.
Do whatever you think is best for your baby and don't let anyone here make you feel bad with their judgmental comments.

Many doctors as a standard practice leave a small amount of the skin there. When he is cold it shrinks back a little and that little bit of skin is evident. I have 4 sons and 3 of them had this. You just pull it back a little and keep it clean. If it completely covers the head then I would check with your doctor but some overlapping is normal. As he grows it will be less evident and you won't need to do this. If you are genuinely concerned than ask about it at the next week baby checkup.
To the earlier participant who gave cleaning and care directions, I would like to point out that was NOT what the question was about. Obviously at 7 months it would have healed!

My son had the same thing and I asked every doctor we seen to look at it! They all said it was normal. One Friend of mine said that the reason is that he would be blessed later on(whaat). Because I don't know how extreme your situation is all I can say is get a second opinion and have it looked at to be sure. I will tell you that you have to make sure you clean it well and really pull the skin back. I didn't do it hard enough and it started to heal together. We caught it in time but Ive known someone who's little boy went through torture because it did! Hope I could help!

I think it's normal to have a small ring of skin near the tip. (About a half-inch or so below the tip.) I used to pull it back to clean under there when I changed his diaper. Double-check with your doctor, because I can't really say without seeing how MUCH skin your son has.

If it was a traditional Rabbi's jewish circumcision it'd be fairly normal. They dont remove a whole lot of skin for those.
If it was the standard one at the hospital, it might not be.
Baby boys have very loose floppy skin on their little man parts, its possible that this is all you're seeing. They do tend to get pretty wrinkly, and even a circumsized little guy can be a little time consuming to keep clean, atleast until theyre more... filled out.
Just ask your Pediatrician next time you're in.

It sounds like the doctor who did the circ didn't remove very much of the foreskin. But, as he grows the skin will begin to pull back on it's own. Next time you are in the doc's office mention it, I went to my nephew (6 mo) last appointment and the doc said it wasn't a problem...but his doesn't cover the whole head, just 1/2.

Yes, if they do not leave extra skin there is more of a chance of complications when he hits puberty.
The skin can be too tight and then the hairy ball skin gets pulled over the shaft of the penis.

When he was circumsized did they put a plastic tip on the end of the penis to hold the skin back or did they just clip the skin and you just put neosporin on it? My son is 6 weeks old and the doctor told me there were 2 procedures to circumsize. your son's doctor can tell you.
