I live in Brazil and here there are a lot of card machines in the commerce, but all the machines work by phone line. But I knew that is possible to save money using a VPN instead of a phone line.

Depends, could you elaborate more on your situation?

In most cases, yes you will be able to setup your credit card reader to report back though your network by a VPN connection. You need to keep in mind that not all machines may be able to do this, so it really depends on which on you own.

There is no reason you can't use a credit card machine over a VPN connection

most credit card machines use an x.25 network, but there is no reason the communication couldn't happen over a VPN.

Yes. I set up mechants all the time who run their credit card machines on VPN. There are only certain types of machines that will do it though.
