Well our company has some type of Christmas gathering. No bonus. They gave us all 25 dollar gift cards last year. Hey better than just a card. They also cook in-house meals for us. We run 24 hrs a day 7 days a week, and usually about 50 to 100 people work on the holidays, They have all the fixings, and lets us usually take 2X's if not longer lunch break. Its nice, no big wigs are there, just the normal worker bee's, and to me just having them get us the stuff for the meals is cool. Christmas bonus' are long gone unless you work for a rich company, or a very small down to earth business that is still old school.

I work at a 4 Diamond Resort and am a Sales Manager. We actually have a full Christmas Party with games, lots of food, music, dancing, etc., in one of the big ballrooms here. However, it is for the crew and not the Managers. The Managers actually are the "wait staff" that night and tend to the bar, serve the food, manage the games, and do the set-up as well as the clean up. It is the Resorts way of saying thank you for all that our hopusekeeping, reservations, guest services, engineering, and leisure services staff do to make the Resort what it is every year. I actually would not be successful at my job if it were not for all of them!

I personally think it is a great idea. It lets them know that we are not so "far above" them to be able to wait on them and do our best to show them they matter.

We will actually have a Holiday Party for the Management Staff in January and that is fine with me!

We are having a Holiday Party at 2pm so we can have fun for a couple of hours. We are having it catered and doing a "Yankee Swap." A Yankee Swap is where everyone who wants to participate brings a gift (under $15) and draws a number out of a bowl. If you get #1, you open any present you want. If you get #2, you open your present and decide if you want the one you unwrapped or the one that #1 unwrapped. It keeps going and going so if you got #20, you unwrap a gift and decide if you want it or any of the other 19 gifts that have already been opened. The higher number you are, the better chances that you'll get a gift you like! Hopefully we will get holiday bonuses as well!!

This year we're having a potluck. The boss will pass out his presents and we'll all probably go home early. We've had big parties in the past, but no one seemed to appreciate them so the boss called them off.

We used to have a breakfast in my office. It was painful because no one wanted to be there, but we had no choice.
