Does this man sound like he may fit the criteria, if not of Avoidant Personality Disorder, than of the Avoidant Attachment style in romantic relationships? He is in his 30s and lives with his mother. He has no avoidance when it comes to friendships with other males, but with women, he tends to become interested in women who are unavailable or unattainable. Either because they are already in a relationship or because they live in another country or state. When he does become involved with a local woman, he has erectile dysfunction the first time they become intimate. His relationships consistently only last a month, and they are few and far between. He does not approach women, he waits for them to approach him to initiate a r/ship. And then when any problem that arise in the relationship, he blames the women and becomes cold and critical. Thanks!!

The E.D. happens even to regular guys the first time, if they are feeling too eager to please. It backfires. For the rest of it, I have never heard those terms, but there is a definite lack of responsibility in relationships. He just doesn't want to do the work.
