If it is only happening this once, it might not be a problem and could just be a heavier period. If it is consistent, and periods last more than 7 days or are more than 80mL of blood ... it could be menorrhagia.
If you're concerned or bothered by it or unsure, you should go see a gynecologist. She can put you on an oral contraceptive that will control hormones and help with heavy periods, or there are other non-contraceptive prescription drugs that will help.

There are many many good answers here, but of course, the pill will regulate your periods, plus deminish the flow...however, just make sure you are not using any aspirin products during your "time" because that is surely to increase the flow...also, exercise is a very good thing too, as it helps to lessen contractions of the uterine wall....

Go on birth control pills. My flow reduced a lot after I started taking birth control. That's really my only answer.

Agreed, go on the pill or depo or Nuvaring, any kind of birth control will lighten your periods right up.

use herbs!!! herbs always work. u can look up on the computer to find what herbs you would need. and there not hard to find ,"weight in the doctors office for 5 hours" kinda herbs. you can get what herbs you need for heavy periods at just about any grocery store.

Grant, how do you know that.??? some pills can actually do that. but try progestron cream three day before period, also try staying away from red meat.
