Not really. Cognative functions (like thinking) aren't depended on one language or form of language.

Think about it, otherwise, babies would never learn how to talk. They have to listen - and think! - in order to learn, in order to talk.

When we think, our brain often *interprets* our thinking as words forming in our minds, but not always. That's why sometimes people will say "I don't know how to say this ..." Obviously they've thought a concept, but are unable to put it in words. This also demonstrates that thinking is *not* just "talking in your mind."

You formulate your thoughts in English. You "hear" them in English. A Spaniard "hears" them in Spanish. The thought process is the same; just the format changes. Likewise, a deaf person's thought process is similar, just the format is different.

No actually "talking in your mind" is not what happens when a lot of people think. Thinking happens conceptually as well. Like when you think of the color red do you only hear the word "red" in your mind or do you actually see the color?? That is just a brief example of conceptual thought as I don't want to overload yuor mind with too many words. Also, one of my best friends is deaf, and I am pretty sure she can think enough to never ask a question this silly.

Are you joking, everyone thinks before they talk, a deaf human being is not stupid because they can not verbalize. Deafness takes away your hearing not your mind. Are you not eating the proper foods to nourish your brain with the knowledge of human biology. You live in a body you know nothing about

There are def people who do speak you know!!! There are a few who are actors on TV! WOW, some people are pretty ignorant these days. Anyways, I agree with the first answerer. Have you ever thought in your mind with out hearing. It's acutally the same way. When people meditate they are trying to do this ...to block out all sound and only hear in their mind. Been trying to do it for years.

If your not deaf how do you think? You don't need to hear to think, you use what's between your ears.
