2.878 Mbps = 2.878 Megabytes per second or 2,878 Kilibytes per second. This means that you can download items from the internet at a rate of 2.878 Megabytes per second. To give you an idea of how fast that is, the average size of an MP3 is about 5-6Mbs, so, if you actually aquire that speed, then you would be able to download an MP3 song in about 2.5 seconds. Unfortunately, High Speed Internet providors typically say that will be your speed, but it is usually the bandwidth that will be shared on a sub-node, and that will hold anywhere from 15-50 people. Your best bet would be to get a Guarantee from your ISP, and that would give you a guarantee of a certain speed all the time.

That should read 2878 kbps not mbps!

Both numbers are the download and upload speeds of your Internet connection. Looks like a typical DSL or cable speed:)
