Depends on what you consider a "James Bond" film.
Casino Royale starring Daniel Craig is the 21st MGM/EON Productions produced Bond film, starting with 1960's Dr. No. BUT, before that film, there was a made for tv film made of Casino Royale, starring an American (!) actor as James "Jim" Bond. And his British counterpart was Felix Leiter. Then, there was another Casino Royale film made in the 60s starring David Niven as Bond, but this was more of a spoof. It also featured Woody Allen, Orsen Welles, and Peter Sellers.
Sean Connery returned to play Bond one final time in the 80s for Sony in the film Never Say Never Again, but, not being produced by the same studio, this film lacks many of the quintessential Bond trademarks (the white viewhole opening, the sexy opening credits, etc.).
So, in total, there have been 24 Bond films (so far), but only 21 of them are considered "official".

There have been 21 films in the official James Bond series but in addition to that there have been 2 other films made. There have also been numerous TV and radio adaptations.
So 21 or 23 movies depending on how you look at it.

There are currently 21 James Bond movies produced.
'Bond 22' will start production soon, with Daniel Craig as Bond.

"Never Say Never Again", shich starred Connery, but did not come from United Artists
1967 "Casino Royale" which was a spoof and did not come from United Artists
