This should probably be written as: (25/9)^x + 1 = (3/5)^x - 1.
If this is so then you substitute y = (5/3)^x and you get qubic equation: y^3 + 2y -1 = 0. This equation has the only real root y = 0.4534 which gives x = ln(0.4534)/ln(5/3) = -1.54845.
