The first question that comes to mind is if you tend to punch women who hit on you?
I don't think it is OK to punch anyone unless they have hit you first and you need to defend yourself.
However, having said that... as a gay man, I feel that it is not OK for him to be getting touchy with you, either! Did you make it clear to him that you were not comfortable with his advances before you opted to pop him one?
I guess if you did, he should have respected your feelings... what do you mean by getting touchy...? Did he pat you on the shoulder (which wouldn't be bad at all) or did he pat you on the groin (which is an entire different matter)!
I would expect to get punched if I walked around touching people in private places... not because of the gay issue but because it is completely rude and disrespectful!!

Well it is not OK if you aren't attacked by some one to use force:it is playing judge and jury at the same time.
If he was very touchy feely, you could have used strong language to tell him to f uck of,cause you are no game.
Well you are one experience wiser:ask yourself this?
Did it hurt you in any way?
You could have also just walked away.
Greetings:Rob
Despite the fact that I am gay myself:I hate them touchy dudes, but I do know how to deal with them:only words.

You should have been the better man and explained that you are straight and walked away. Hitting someone for not taking the hint is not justified. Would you do the same to a girl you didn't find attractive? No. Your own phobia of homosexuals is what drove you to hit him. If you were comfortable with your own straight sexual orientation, you wouldn't have acted so harshly. I've had plenty of men hit on me, I know I'm straight so it didn't get to me like that.

No, physical violence is not the answer here. A stren go away I'm not interested, or I don't play for your team would have been enough. Before you ever strike someone for hitting on you walk away.

Also remember one thing, if he was hitting on you then you should also look at it as he was paying you a compliment. He must have thought you were cute, so trying being polite when someone pays you a compliment, but let them know you are not interested.

Would it be ok for me to punch you because you are not interested! NO! You idiot! It is never ok to use violence. Just tell the guy that you are not gay and not interested. That's all! Why did you have to try and be all macho straight guy!!!
Your lucky I wasn't there to see this. Hate crime much! I hope a huge gay bear hits on you and you try to get rough with him!
See how you like getting decked in the face!
Homophobe!

Only if you feel the same reaction coming from any female you "hit on" was appropriate. If you felt she should have decked you, then I guess it's ok for you to hit someone else.

Sadly no, that's a big mistake. The best thing to do is to accept the complement or whatnot and tell him "I'm sorry sir, I'm straight, but thank you for the complement." It's always better to be positive about things.

Phil.. That's a little too stone age. Attraction is attraction, and he's just acting on it. If it doesn't flatter you, just go away. Women do this to aggressive men all the time, and they are very civilized about it.

Is he trying to hit on you with his fist?
if yes than that's called self defense
if no than hitting is called assault and you ll go to jail if pressed charges if you called him names while you hit than that would be a hate crime.
really someone found you attractive be honored no upset
be polite if you are offended tell him resorting to violence only lowers your opinion of yourself not to mention what the rest of us think of you now
