Small business. In a smaller environment there is more personal contact between all tiers of the business. People tend to take ownership of responsibilities more in smaller businesses -- there is a tendency to have an increased personal interest in the successes of the business and it results in improved morale and atmosphere. Working at a small business often provides employees with opportunities to expand their interests, skills and capabilities beyond their niche role. I think that the preference for small business vs. big company is really personality-driven.

I think they both have there positives and negatives. The positive about a big company would be that your health insurance and things of that nature would probably be better than a small business due to the face that big companies make more money, thereofre, your insurance would probably be the best. Big companies have more room for advancement, too. Big companies also have more chances of people quitting often, due to the fact that big companies have smaller jobs, too, which we know causes people to leave jobs a lot more often. Small business' give you a chance to know everyone personally at the workplace and you also are able to do more with your co-workers due to the face that there arent that many there. I, myself, work for a small business, and although I love it, I also know that itw ill take me a lot longer to advance due to the fact that there are not that many job openings :)

Having worked in both environments (1 yr removed from college), I like the smaller company starting out. Being a big fish in a small pond is also good for confidence and I noticed I had more training at the smaller company. After you have experience (to be at a management level), I would prefer to work at a big company since there is more room for advancement.
Neither one of these is as good as working for yourself. That way, you are making yourself rich, not someone else.

Definitely small businesses! There usually very friendly, family-oriented and owned businesses where they care about their customers, and take into consideration their needs and concerns. Some big companies usually lose sight of this as they are more concerned about how to get their next buck, not caring who gets screwed, not remembering how things were when they got their first!
I prefer to help out the little guy!

I like small business. Coming to work is personal. I have been @ my job for 3+ years and my co-workers are like family to me. We have all done so much to help each other out.
I would never go back to the horrible corporate environment. They don't give a damn about people.
