The goal of all Life is SURVIVAL! Therefore its meaning is overcoming obstacles to survival and attaining to better survival while there are no limits to the meaning of "better".
If you agree to the existence of the forest then all that comes part and parcel with a forest is inevitable, it is all a matter of the quality of your agreement.
There is a very long chain of eggs and chickens. If you examine each, each is different. Each generation introduces changes, no matter how minute - they are still changes. If one would trace back such a chain through countless generations back to its beginnings it almost certain that one would arrive at things entirely different to an egg or chicken.

The meaning of life is the relationships we have with people, the lessons we learn, and the knowledge we build from life experience. The development of ourselves through everyday life experiences.
The tree makes a sound, just no one's ears pick up the sound waves, but the sound is there.
The egg came first, from a close cousin of the chicken, spawning the first generation of modern chickens.

If a tree falls and there is no sound. did it really fall?
Does it really matter which came first ,the egg or the chicken, but that in which you entend to eat first.
And should the answer always be yes to eveything and no to nothing?If your right know does that make you wrong later, or just mistaken?

The only motivations people have are emotions and instincts. Since we can't control instincts the only real "meaning" to our lives is to seek positive emotions. Aka, happiness.
Indeed the tree does make a sound.
Egg came first. Mutations are so much more common during sex and reproduction than just having some bird mutate midstep into a new creature.

The meaning of life is to serve God, and to prove your loyalty to Him. but if you die while you're not a Christian, Your life in itself has no meaning for you, it does nothing for yourself, but it proabably affected OTHER lives.
I don't know about the tree falling thing, but thats a very interesting question. And the chicken came first.
