I really need to know for a history project....

I'm not as certain about my answer to this question as I usually am but I believe that the Mohawk were the easternmost of the tribes that formed the Iroquois confederacy in what is now New York State. This would place them in Albany, Schenectady, and Saratoga counties, not surprisingly near the confluene of the Mohawk River with the Hudson River in New York State.
