The best thing I ever bought for my 6 year old nephew was a big castle made out of strong cardboard. He could draw all over it and still plays in it 3 years later (he thinks he's Capt. Jack Sparrow at the moment!). It cost about £25.
I say this by way of saying, perhaps you can get better things without spending hundreds. Books that you can read with him, a box full of dressing up gear (pirate gear, a wooden sword and shield etc), a big roll of paper (wallpaper lining paper is great) and a big tub of crayons - these things tend to last a lot longer and give as much joy as the latest £100 plastic electronic gizmo. Take him to something like ice skating, sledding etc as well.

Wow $400 sounds like ALOT of money to spend on a 6 year old kid who doesn't fully appreciate the worth of money. What is the boy interested in? Buy something relating to his interests. Don;t buy a gaming console you don't want them to get into a habit of playing computer games at that age.

You would be much better off spending $400 on 20 or 30 things. A 6 year old doesnt give a shitt how much something costs, he just wants to open lots of presents. He will feel screwed if there is only one or two.

Makes ideal experience to me. carry directly to this concept however.. ultimately, and formerly you realize it.. the ten year previous would be getting married and having his own childrens. My oldest only had a daughter... i'm already enforcing my plan to wreck her rotten. Then HE can handle the temper tantrums and that i will only take a seat decrease back, watch from a distance and say "Now you realize what I felt like while.." I plan on saying that lots.. :)

I am 6. please get me some Xbox 360 games, the mature ones. I would also like some Star Wars action figures and some Tranformers. Anime is also good, do not worry Best Buy does nor check I.D.s for anime. Yeah, I think that is it.

get him a bike with all the extras: helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, a ramp for jumping, bike pump, extra tubes for the tires, etc....
