I had no end of problems with my boxes - I am on my 3rd! It maybe that you need to get a signal booster, as the reception may not be strong enough. Check that it is not situated close to other forms of radio signal - mobile phones seem to cause no end of problems. The same problem can occur if the box is near a computer.

Alternatively you may have to take it back to the shop and exchange it as it maybe faulty. You can also try the Freeview helplines as they can also boost the signal somehow - you should have the contact details in with your Freeview pack.

I had these issues, on two separate digiboxes and it turned out that it was the aerial in both cases.

I bet you are using one of the old UHF aerials which probably isn't pulling in a good enough signal for digital. Loads of people just use the old aerials but quite often they are inadequate.

Does the problem get worse when it's raining? this is a good indication it's the aerial.
Aerial would be the first thing I'd look at.

If your TV set top box (Freeview) is sitting on top of your TV set, it may be over heating. This could possibly be the cause. If it is located as above, try relocating it on the floor if possible or a small table next to the TV set.

If none of this, I think you should take it back and tell them its not working properly. It should still be under guarantee, which is usually for one year from date of purchase.

your freeview will crash or freeze even if someone walks in the path of the aerial signal, you need to use a aerial that is located on a roof if you can

All of above sound good, but may also be worth investigating power supply. Our supply often fluctuates, causing surges and spikes that bother my sky box. I fitted a surge protector to cure. just another idea to think on.

Sounds like a firmware problem. Firmware updates are broadcast on one of the Freeview channels.

Go to your setup / initialisation menu and you should find an entry for "update firmware". Select this and wait. It might be a few days before they next broadcast the firmware for your make & model.

Could be down to either weather conditions or the aerial. You might need to upgrade your aerial. Or it just could be faulty. It could be a weak signal to the box.

Do you have anything on top of it? It could be overheating. Make sure that none of the air vents on it are obstructed by anything.
