EBAY!
Trust me. I just bought one today for $25!!
The seller said the only thing he did was take it out the box to see what it did and put it back. I could care less about the box, and since that was the cheapest price I've seen (below retail), I grabbed it. And the doll works fine.
Just be patient, I know that is pretty hard to do right now, but the prices are going down. And look during the week, less people are looking for them during this time and the prices go down. Retail stores are trying to hide when they get them in, so I had no luck there. Honestly right now the only place you can get one is from Ebay...so keep trying.
Also if you would like an extra laugh, try looking for a TMX in Spanish or French! I saw them selling much lower than the English version. I was about to buy a Spanish one until I saw the one I got today.Good Luck!

Ebay has Elmo for prices really close to retail. I would buy one there if you can't find one at a store. If you decide to buy on Ebay, make sure you pay attention to the shipping costs! A lot of the auctions are low, but the shipping cost is crazy! Some sellers use the shipping cost as a way to make more money.
Also, be sure you buy from someone who has very little or no negative feedback. You can view a seller's feedback on the auction page, and you can see if they are reliable.
Another tip for Ebay is to bid and buy during the week, not the weekend. You have a better chance of getting one cheaper.
I also know that Target is getting shipments of Elmo, but you may never know when they come in. The best chance you have of finding one, is going to Target when they open because they fill the shelves at night when the store is closed and early in the morning.
I hope this helps!

Sadly all the stores are sold out.
Most people on ebay are trying to get unreasonable prices.
I have seen some on ebay for a low price, but the seller is charging extra shipping, to make money.
The cost to ship a TMX Elmo in the US should be around $10.00 for parcel post.
I would check ebay, there are thousand of TMX on there and there might be some at a reasonable price. Personally if I need to have one I wouldn't pay more than $50.00. That's a $10.00 profit over the retail price for a seller.
I know these guys are sold out, but check them for Sesame Street dolls.

You can get it on eBay of course! It's sold out it most stores, and there won't be more till next year. If you can wait till next year they will probably be on eBay for less than the $40 retail price within a couple weeks after the holidays.
If your patient you can get one for very close to retail price now! The prices on eBay have been dropping lately since many people already have gotten one! The people who were willing to pay $300 to insure their kid gets ones have already done so, so prices now are around $60 on a daily basis.
http://www.findtmx.com has info on finding them at the lowest price. The auction sniper website they recommend makes it a snap to get one at the price you want!

Dude...tell your child that he/she can have it for a birthday present. You WON'T find one now unless Jesus comes down from the heavens and gives you one with a little bow tied around it's neck. Bascially, it's not going to happen. Why do parents NEED to get the latest thing for the child?...isn't there anything else cool and maybe not so popular that your kid wants?
You can keep trying if it REALLY is THAT important, but you will spend a fortune... Up to you...

You can't. They are sold out everywhere. Consider an alternate.
