Mc Carthy was convinced that there were Communist Russian agents infiltrated in many walks of American life. He and his supporters tried to scare people into thinking that these agents were undermining our government or plotting a Communist takeover, and he organized many hearings in which people were pressured or coerced into naming suspected Communist sympathisers. Communist agents did exist but Mc Carthy blew them grossly out of proportion, and many reputations were ruined.
Red symbolized the Communist party, the flags of Soviet Russia and Communist China are mostly red, and the Soviet army was called the "Red Army".

The Republicans were in the minority and trying hard to end a long, long run of the Democrats in power. Even though we were in peacetime, there were fears that Communism was taking over the world. The Committee on un-American activities had Richard Nixon and Eugene McCarthy holding hearings on American spies. Television was new and the "red hunt" magnified itself on the tube. FBI Director Hoover stated he estimated 100 in 10,000 Americans was a communist. The reason it was called "red" was we were eyeball to eyeball with the political communist, the Russians over the Berlin Blockade. We neglected China after WWII and the Chinese Red Army took command.

Ghosts are like you or me but are in a higher vibrational frequency. To see this woman is really exciting. She may be a friend from your past life or a spirit guide. She could also be a good spirit that is watching over you. When you die, you leave your physical body and become energy. This woman is connected to you somehow. Keep in mind, everything and everyone is connected spiritually. Some more than others, spirits find retribution to certain types of people. Depending on your personality or your soul, you may have the connection this ghost needs to move on. I understand your fear. Many living people look at things so third dimensionally that it could be hard to sometimes understand how the creation process works. Your lifetime on this planet is just another step to the next dimension. It is a preparation to develop your spirit before entering the next level or next dimension. Ghosts are harmless. Some can be annoying if they were bad people. But most ghosts are good. If this woman lived in the house or place you are living in, she may be trying to find closure to her former life. Sometimes ghosts hang around because they do not realize they are dead. Years can go by without them knowing. This woman needs guidance and she needs love to move on to the light. The only fear that exists is the fear created in your mind. Have an empath or priest come visit your home and try to help this woman move on. Then you will no longer fear that your house is haunted.

Back during the Russian Revolution, two of the contending organizations were the White Russians and the Bolshevics who were called the Red Russians. The Bolshevics were hi-jacked by the communist shortly after the end of the revolution. Thus the term Red came to mean Russian communist and finally just communist.

It was during the Joseph McCarthy days when he was a senator. He went after Americans that he thought were either communist or communist sympathizers. He did a good job at scaring the country into getting regular people to wonder if their friends or neighbors could be communists.

From Wikipedia.org:
The term "Red Scare" has been retroactively applied to two distinct periods of strong anti-Communism in United States history: first from 1917 to 1920, and second from the late 1940s through the late 1950s These periods were characterized by heightened suspicion of Communists and the fear of widespread infiltration of Communists in U.S. government.

Red was the color of Communist Russia wasn't it?
The Reds were then a nickname for Russians? - scared of Soviet aggression. Making the "Red scare" a term used for other so-called communist aggression at the time.
