the intuitive, wholistic, non-linear portion of your consciousness is supposed to be in charge, with the linear, logical "ego-based" function acting as agent, not boss. unfortunately, modernly, its the other way "round. (alleged )logic and ego are running the show, "into the ground". in a more ideal situation your "soul generated" intuitions would guide your "ego generated" logic- based actions, simply stated. how to correct the "problem"? undertaking practices to aid a more balanced consciousness, and to facilitate better functioning of the "right brain activities" would be helpful. the most obvious ones being meditation and "energy work".

I strive to consciously control the "animal" aspects of my personality. Our primitive selves (and I am making a bit of an assumption here... that the conscious self is seperate from our primal self) do not have as much capacity for inhibition, self control, etc.
But I do know that there are situations where that "animal" takes over. I think, depending on the situation, each "self" steps up and does it's job.
