WIth the defection of Stan Conte and Ned Colleti and the most likely defection by Jason Schmidt (all to their nemesis the Dodgers), does any other Giants fan feel the days of the Giants as a contender are over? What will it take to re-build? Do they need to have McGowan get bought out or fire Sabean? I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Barry Bonds is eating up much of the salary costs and hopefully, this will be his last year so as to free up some of that money and get other ball players.

Most teams needs to rebuild their pitching staff and there aren't too many good pitchers available. So, depending on who's available and what Barry Bonds will be doing in the years to come will determine the future of the Giants.

The Giants front office needs to remain awake during the off season...

The giants will never be as bad as the '62 Mets that team was brabd new and lost 120 games they were a last team for about 7 years in a row. noone will ever be that bad again. The '62 mets had little talent and no money. they were basically the laughing stalk of the league the giants aren't nor ever will be

I hope the Dodgers take Barry too. The Giants aren't that bad off.

I think they should do exactly as they said they would in their letter to the fans at the end of last year's season. Concentrate on building a younger team for the future without Barry as the Centerpiece.

Unfortunately they seem to have forgotten the "younger" part in their recent signings - Feliz, Aurilia and Molina. Hopefully they don't lose site of not having Barry as the centerpiece

I see no evidence that they are turning into the '62 Mets. They are indeed the NEW Cubs. As long as they cater to and protect Barry Bonds, they will be in that role because they are unable to gel as a team with him there.

Chow!!
