India is an up-and-coming nation with a lot of good things going for it.
However, it also still has massive poverty, serious over-population issues, health and infrastructure issues, and lots of work to do to insure the health, safety, and education of all its people.

It's great they've never started a "first war" -- but that's only "modern" India since becoming independent from Great Britain. Ancient India (which wasn't called India, but it's the same location) started plenty of wars, and was in fact a very agressive southern Asia nation. The "modern" India has only been around less than a century, so they jury's still out on their behavior as a nation :)

Frankly, NO country is the "best" in the world -- all have good and bad points. And those in any country who declare theirs "the best" are often the same ones who cause trouble with other nations -- belligerent patriotism. It's enough that you love your native country, it doesn't have to be declared "the best" to make it a good place :)

(and before you ask -- yes, I've been there, so I'm speaking from experience)

Peace.

Uh... India and Pakistan quarrel all the time. :P They used to be allies until Pakistan told them to be muslim or die. Now they are blood enemies. And it is not a significant amount of scientists from India that have changed or improved modern living. Not to mention the poor and homeless in India is atrocious! I have friends who went there as missionaries and they were appalled at the numerous people lying in their own filth and DYING on the streets. It's disturbing.

Most people in India do not have water, electricity, or even shelter over their heads. There is also a terrible population problem and lack of education to explain to the people they can't be having babies if they have no where to live and nothing to eat. There is too much starving and such there and their government is not providing education or housing for the less fortunate.

So, NO India is not the best country in the world. It's a third world country. They may not be bombing everyone and a lot of people may be very nice there (only because of "karma" and not from the heart [some are from the heart, but most are not]), but that does not make up for the living conditions and lack of proper education.

India has never started conflict? So you're best friends with your neighbor Pakistan?

India isn't a bad country but it's not at the same level of technology as the US or western europe. Some places in india still don't have clean drinking water or electricity. India also has a booming population problem that go bust in a decade or two if nothing is done.

No it is not! Have you seen the slums of Calcutta! The high poverty rate and the high HIV rate. Thousands of people live below poverty and live and die on the streets without ever having any shelter. There is tremendous amount of corruption and nothing is accomplished without handing money under the table! Sure India has some good things going on but definitely not the best in the world! With all our faults I love USA and to me it is the best maybe that is why so many Indians migrate here!

Not in my opinion. I don't know the whole human rights thing hurts India a little. Most of those scientists seem to come to the US for their education, also.

Well if you have a few dollars in your pocket is is a hell of a lot better than the USA if you value liberty. You can pretty much do anything you want so long as you don't hurt anybody. Remember if you need a license it is not a right and there are few things you need a license for in India so you have a lot of rights.

If India can lower it's population problem and grow further from regular tradition by using it's spiritual prowess as a third eye, than it could possibly become the greatest country. It has allot going for it and thank god it is not nearly as violent as the U.S.A. I believe that if the U.S. or China does not corrupt India than it stands a strong chance.

Yeah why dont you move there. In Calcutta you can see crippled leppers scooting through streams of urine and feces. How about becoming Hindu? You could believe that the cow is God (Brahma). What a wonderful place to be.
