First learn how to use spell check (competitors) then advertise and find a niche, something that makes you different, special or better than the rest. I work at a hardware store that competes with the "big box" store down the road and we "kick ***" with Great, helpful costumer service and we have a very clean store..people like that. They even come in especially for our free popcorn from our movie theater popper...IT WORKS
