My PS2 only plays PS1 games it doesnt play PS2 games or DVD's.... whats wrong with it? can i fix it?

Your laser lens is either dirty or shot. I've gone through 2 and fixed many of my friends. You can take it apart and clean the lens with a Q-tip and Windex very carefully and very lightly. Be very careful with the lens and be sure you put all parts and screws back correctly. This works most of the time and if it woks it will keep your PS2 working for a few more months, maybe. Death is inevitable. If This doesn't work, you can try calibrating your laser. There are many sites on the net such ashttp://ps2repairs.amenet.co.uk/laser.htm that will guide you through the process. You're best off buying a new one. The laser lens in the ps2 is very cheap. You can find new laser lenses on the net for around $50.

Oh the cruddy PS2, the lenses go bad, soon less and less games will work and it will become a useless heap of plastic, get it exchanged if you have a warranty on it.

I think you should just buy another. I really don't think it would be fixable or you could just go to a place like gamestop,or electronic boutique and ask if it is possible to have it fixed with that problem.

just buy a new one buy the new remake of the ps2 and buy a white one

i would take it to a shop and ask if they knew what was wrong if they said it was completely bust id buy an xbox 360 because i have one and there great.
