I've heard that the dead sea has a high salinity content, and fish don't survive, and they die.

Because it's so salty nothing can live in it.
It's also called the "Salt Sea"

It's been known as the "Dead Sea" since at least the time of Pliny the Elder, and probably longer.

Because it is a sea of water that doesn't have a damn thing living in it! There is more salt in that body of water than anywhere else in the world. It is lifeless because of that. So we have been calling it the dead sea for a very very long time.

Miscommunication between religions, people, and a twisting of words. We pray to Jesus, but Jesus is in heaven so for the time being he is dead to the world technically speaking. So in my eyes, if we are not praying directly to God, that we are ALL in some form or fashion praying to the dead despite our denomination. Protestants will find ANY reason to not like Catholics though. At least that has been my experince growing up in the Bible Belt.

It's too salty for almost anything to survive. Nothing is visible to the naked eye, so it's all dead.
