Shouldn't it be called "fronting"?

Think of the dimensions... the roof is the top, the floor is the bottom, and the walls comprise the sides.... hence, siding.

It's on the front, the back, and the sides. But there are more sides than front or back

It's on the front side... not the top or bottom... so I suppose siding rules the day.
