I had one shot of depo and that's where my conceiving hell began! It took me three years to even conceive, my periods were all over the place during this time, it turned out to be an ectopic which had to be removed by surgery and I nearly died, my partner and I tried again and a year later i got pregnant again, same thing happened another ectopic, to cut a long story short I have lost 4 babies and been through hell and it's all thanks to depo.... I know this because before I had the injection all I had to do was look at my boyfriend and I'd get preggers (well slight exaggeration but you get the idea!) I am thankful that I already have two beautiful children.

I was not told anything about the risks associated with this drug, I was told it could take me upto a year to 'return to normal'. I have found out since that there are a high number of women who after taking depo have suffered an ectopic and nearly died, as you can probably tell I am still very angry about the whole thing and I really hope you are one of the lucky ones that does return to normal after it is out of your system,

I was on Depo for 3 years, was still on it having regular injections when I fell pregnant with my first child. I never missed one injection I was actually at my appointment when I found out I was pregnant after she checked my blood pressure and other things and suggested a pregnancy test just to be on the safe side.

NO it doesn't matter how long you have been on the depo. Getting pregnant is the matter of your estrogen levels balancing out.
The amount of Depo-Provera in the bloodstream is at the highest level just after injection. Over time, the level drops and after three months the level may no longer offer enough protection. You can ask your doctor for a estrogen supplement or something he thinks might be better. OR! You can take it in your own hands and buy a safe estrogen supplement yourself.

Hi

I was on the depo injection for about 9 months, but came of it about 6-7 months ago. About 8 weeks ago, I finally came on and since then I have had a period every week until last week, fingers crossed. So it has been really difficult for me to get pregnant as it has been very difficult for me to have sex, as the BF doesn't like doing it while I am on. Wussy. I have been told to go and see the doctor.

Why don't you go and see what he can do for you.

Good Luck

xx

Yes It depends on how long you have been on it. I was on it for 5 and a half years and it took nearly 3 years to get pregnant. I went for tests and was told that I had endometriosis but as I had been on the depo provera that it had shrunk them a considerable amount and I now have a beautiful baby girl, so dont give up.

Don't worry if its takin you a while to conceive, everybody is different. If you are worried then talk to your GP.
Good Luck and hope everything goes well for you.
