There is this woman who is always soliciting money for "school trips." One alleged trip was to Catalina Island for a whale watch for her high school biology class. This woman does this year round and the trips never happen. I have heard religious cults use deceptive practices like this to raise money. People report that she tells everyone different stories like she can't keep her facts straight. Also, she has a little box from which she will give you candy or snacks if you make a donation. She askes for six dollars.

People will do anything to get money and not have to work. People that are not homeless and are panhandling make more than minimum wage sometimes. There is a chance that the woman is a Gypsy, there are notoriuos for scams.

She could be raising money for a cult, or she could be supporting herself or an addiction with the money. Report her to the police.

Is this in the workplace? If so, you need to check with HR, and ask that they either enforce rules against solitictation or create some. How grotesquely annoying!

yes, I have heard of it.... The cult is called con-artistry. The lady is a thief... I would contact the local authorities and inform them of this.
