I don't remember how it began, but the gist of it was i died. However i was still able to communicate with people in my dream. Me and My wife choose which suit i was going to wear and neither one of us showed any emotion. We then went to the funeral home. I was getting dressed in the back room and I could here everyone gathering for my funeral. They let the immediate familiy into the room I was to be viewed. so I walked into the room so I could get into the casket. Everone could see me walking in and they where consoling me, then I went to hug my mother and we both lost it. I then woke up and had an overwhelming feeling that if i would have got in the casket i would have died and not woke up.

Any thoughts. Thanks for your insights.

Death in dreams usually signify new beginnings. There's no way to properly analyze your dream without knowing what's going on in your everday life. Are you starting a new job, moving, having a child, etc? Are you anxious or nervous about a sudden change? Any of those things could cause a dream like the one you described.

Something else in your life is making you feel that your life is draining away. I don't know you, but the fact that your wife helps you chose the suit in the dream, and that neither of you show emotion tells me a lot. Are you having an emotional disconnection from your wife right now? Do you feel that your wife does not care about you, and that you two are just going through the motions? Also, it sounds like you have a strong bond with you mother, and perhaps desire for the same unquestioning love and devotion from your wife.

You do not want to get into the casket, because you want to really live again, and you feel like you are being forced into a life that is, well, dead.

You need to examine your life, what is making you unhappy, and what you need to do to have joy and a life worth living.

All the best to you!

Your mind is simply resolving its fears and anxieties about your own death, and about your fixation on the importance of your dreams. Dreams help you to find peace with the things which most affect your mind at the time. Your mind is exploring your feelings about your life and your death, and working to increase your peace with those feelings.

Above all, no matter how strong the feeling was, you would not have died by entering the casket in your dream, but you would have had to explore your feelings about actually being dead. Eventually, you would come to accept that those feelings are natural, acceptable, and peaceful, and that there is nothing to fear about either dreams (the resolution process) or death (the transitory process). Find peace with everything that you just mentioned, and if it happens again (the dream, that is) have no fear and accept this natural, biological process of mental, emotional, and spiritual reconciliation with your perceptions and philosophies.

You are not in control of your life, you are merely an observer from the outside. You are not living the life you desire but trying to be happy with what fate has handed you. You are not able to express this to anyone. Your wife is a very efficient woman, good at taking care of things but you do not express your true self to her either. You feel you are being boxed in (the casket) and to allow it to happen would ultimately be the death of your spirit. The only person you could express this to is your mother because she knows the true essence of your spirit.

Pretty scary dream you had! Ive had dreams sort of like that too, where it doesnt make sense. Though I have never died in my dreams. Most say if you die in your dreams, you will die in your sleep. If that is true or not, I wouldnt know, now would I? laugh

Have you had fear of dying lately? WIth Death on our mind, weird dreams such as the one you had, can run through our heads. Its like that for anyone who is dwelling on something for some time. The mind only protrays what it has seen or thought. Thats why a mix of things youve seen & thought of, in your life can come out weird in a dream. Hopefully you will have better dreams from now on. :-)

I'm not sure. Isn't there something about if you die in your dream you die in real life, and thats why everyone wakes up right before they die, like falling to your death or anything like that. Maybe thats why you woke up before getting into the casket. Isn't there some part of you that doesn't know your dreaming, your body or brain or something so if something happens to you in your dream your body thinks its real and will react to it just like it would in real life and thats why you would die? I really have no idea I just thought I heard something about that before.

I believe the meaning of your dream is that you feel small in your family and that your life is not respected, and your wife accepts this role in the family for you. Your mother and you do not like you to play this role. (Families feel the need to designate one of their own to carry the burden of death so that the other members can function as though they have not fear of death.) I believe the meaning of your dream is that you want to make your own choice.

This is my interpretation....

1.You are probably planning for a long time to do things differently
2.You want everyone to see you as you really are....you feel they
are misjudging you.
3.You are about to launch some project but doubt about its
success....and feel you may fail and thus expose your
vulnerability....
Do not fret...it is OK...you are doing the right thing....

Well, because you woke up after giving your mom a hug, I would suggest to call your mother and see if everything is ok.
