The largest of the 5 extant rhinos is the greater one horned White rhino or Indian, followed by the White rhino. Both of these animals are considered to the the second largest land animal, although an adult bull Hippo may exceed that size. They generally stand about 2 meters high and can weight around 6000 lbs. Next is the Black rhino, then the nearly extinct Javan rhino(60 remain). Lastly, the smallest are the odd & furry Sumatran rhinos which are under 1.5 meters in height and weight around 2200 lbs. They too are sadly nearing extinction (300 remain).

The white rhino's name derives from the Dutch "weit," meaning wide, a reference to its wide, square muzzle adapted for grazing. The white rhino, which is actually gray, has a pronounced hump on the neck and a long face.
The black, or hooked-lipped, rhino, along with all other rhino species, is an odd-toed ungulate (three toes on each foot). It has a thick, hairless, gray hide. Both the black and white rhino have two horns, the longer of which sits at the front of the nose.
Black rhinos have various habitats, but mainly areas with dense, woody vegetation.
White rhinos live in savannas with water holes, mud wallows and shade trees.
The white rhino is the second largest land mammal next to the elephant.
