The idea of an education is a good and worthy idea.
Unfortunately it is wasted on many of the people answering this question, or at least it seems to be, because they seem to lack the ability to spell and form grammatically correct sentences.
Schooling in the USA has been really dumbed down in my opinion.
I believe this has been done because it is easier to lead or herd a bunch of dimwit dummies than people that have some ability to think.
To try and prove my point I will use the presidential election of 2000 as an example.
When I was in grade school we had to pass certain tests in order to progress to the next grade level. Part of the curriculum was social studies and government. We had to learn the 'chain of command' like if the president and the vice president die who takes over? ( speaker of The House of Representatives) This is why it is so important to impeach both the president and the vice president before something like a Gerald Ford appointment happens.
What happens in the event of a tie in a presidential election?
Apparently, most if not all of American citizens do not know the answer to that question.
This really helped out the current president because the rule / law as I was taught was not followed.
Now those who favor the outcome say that the supreme court just stopped the recount or something to that effect.
The supreme court is NOT Supposed to get involved in politics!
I know it is naive to think that anyone in such a powerful position would not use it to there political advantage & I know that many former presidents have loaded the courts and or just plain ignored the supreme court all together.
But, This is the 1st time that a supreme court has chozen a president and by doing so violated the law.
As I remember the law being stated to me way back when in grade school : If there is a tie in a presidential election , and since there was no clear winner and ther had to be a recount and that recount was stopped for all intent and purpose there was a tie, the election goes to The House of Representatives.
Since this did not happen and there was no outrage from the public that the law was broken in that the decision on who was to be the president did not go into the House the dumbing down of the general population worked very well for the current president and his corperate sponsors.
I could use several other examples on math, science, social studies or other grade school subjects , in how dumbing down the general public has helped those in power to control those who are not but that would not help me in getting the best answer prize.

If you think school is dumb, then you are missing out on a lot. Get involved in activites, sports. Take advantage of a free education while you can. Learning can actually be fun and easier when you have some teachers who enjoy what they do. Besides, you might think high school is dumb, but when you get to college it's a whole different type of environment. One most people enjoy.

The answer is: school (an institution for teaching and learning) is not dumb. Those who attend the school can be dumb (me included), however it is the people that attended the school that are dumb. And most of them are because they choose to be. That's me and you smarty. I do realize that it is harder for some than others.

Its not dumb, hard and it seems like you're going to be there forever but one day when you have great paying job you'll look back and smile at your kids when they ask ' why is school dumb'?

It is NOT dumb! Frustrating, perhaps, but dumb, no. A good school demands your best and if you don't want to give it, then you are doomed to the worst.

it isnt dumb only at the time of young age, but when you get older you will realize how important it is and how it played a big role on your social life and life itself trust me

well it is in a way..but u dont have to study hard or something to make it more comfortable.you just have to be nice to teachers and off course school isnt a cool place if ur stupid and totaly unknowing
