It's more accurate to say that those African American men have CONSENSUAL GAY SEX in prison (the whole "prison rape" thing is a myth - most of the man-on-man action in the joint is voluntary - some of the guys even make money by having sex with other guys).
But, it could be entirely possible that these guys got HIV in jail, and brought it to their wives and/or girlfriends in the free world.

There are no condoms and no aids testing in jails. Not all prison sex is rape. There are so many factors but the main one is not taking responsibility.
1) Use condoms. There are like 80 black men for every 100 women. Guess what, more women for the men and more women SHARING men...protect your things
2) Just 'cause it look good don't mean you gotta hit it.
3) If you are gay and go to have gay sex with a man use a condom. Not using the condom does not mean you are not having gay sex and not carrying condoms does not mean your intentions are not to have gay sex.
4) TALK ABOUT IT!!!! AIDS and STD's should not be taboo words. Especially in areas where a 16 year old parent is the norm
5) Stop looking at it as a BLACK American problem but an AMERICAN problem. One area of this nation is left to crumble WE ALL feel the effects.
13% of the national population = 50% of the national AIDS population.

I don't know how accurate your numbers are but I do agree with the general idea. I'm a black woman and it makes me so angry that more than half of the new AIDS cases are black women. I think it has something to do with the whole "down low" thing. Black men are so afraid to admit that they like other men that they have a girlfriend or get married, have kids, while still having sex with men. I think that is so disguisting, just admit who you are, even though it's tough and your family may disown you nothing is worth risking your life and the life of someone else. Could have been better said but I think you question is a very good one.

You mean Some black women and Some black men. I do agree to an extent. I once read about 3 yrs. ago a prison in SC had a total of 2000 blk males... Of the 2000 blk males, 1900 were HIV infected. I do feel some women contract the infection from some of the men once they are released from prison due to not using condoms. Also I recall a documentary on BET that featured actual people that had been exposed. Also folks talked about prison life and the homosexual activities. One guy mentioned that if there are prisoners that have been in there for years and if a new-comer is weak or slightly feminine they are going down..... So it is happening in prison. I'm certain that some are going down or in.....that are not in those categories as well.
Oh and another guy on BET mentioned that homosexual activities are so common in prisons that condoms need to be issued in prison, but then that's another chapter......
On the other hand, we can't forget about the men that are living the "On-The-Down-Low" lives. My question is what's the percentage of the "Down Low" men that are not using protection. Now that's another reason how the virus is rapidly spreading to females and others? Now that is really scary! Oh and not to forget blood transfusions, needles, so forth.
Females/Shemales/Whatever You Are.....That's why it's best if you are unsure about your partner....Make him Wrap-It-Up.

And just where do you get your statistics? Common sense would dictate that these men contracted the disease while in prison and brought it to their mates, as the guy here suggests.
The reason that any woman - no matter the COLOR - has AIDS is because they either contracted through blood transfusion, needle sharing, or unprotected sex!

in prison they seperate the gay population from the general population to fight the spread of aids and to protect the homosexuals from inevitable abuse. i don't feel it would be realistic to think that 70 % of the straight black males in prison are the cause of aids.
perhaps black men (not in prison) tend to have more partners and that could be reasoned out as average black men with aids having sex with 2 woman, that would mean 35% percent of the male population would be causing 70% of female aids. or if (again, in general terms) black men with aids have 4 partners, that would mean approx 17% of black men are causing 70% of females to get aids.
the high aids rate in women in the black community has more to do with society impact than men in prison. in my opinion.

Oh, I so disagree with the guy who said rape in prison is a myth. I have had two friends who were jailed in their teens and they went in straight and came out straight and they were just as traumatized by their rape experience as any woman.
Re: your question. It could be that because black people do not have equal opportunities in America, they can only afford inferior condoms that break. Your question is quite random.

umm not neccesarily. My bf went to jail and they had regular testing for hiv/aids. the new thing is down brothers. Men who are gay and having sex with other men unprotectly because they do not want to admit it. Then they go back to their wives/girlfriend and pass on the disease to them.

No, but I do agree you are an idiot. Someone needs to show you how to get and use statistics. Also, you make the assumption that EVERY black man that goes to prison. Doubtful. Get your facts straight.
