ACT is easier because it tests for knowledge. SAT can get really tricky because it tests for ability and potential.

You should choose which one to take based on the area of the country you are in. In the Midwest colleges look at ACT but on the west coast colleges look at the SAT. However they may except both. The only difference I know is that the ACT is said to be a better determinate of how successful you will be in college. More accurate representation.

ACT tests higher math skills than SAT, and the language areas are easier.

SAT has more difficult language areas (including the new essay portion), easier math.

Depends what you're good at.
