My husband works with a girl that went to the Dr. when she was about 4-5 weeks along and they told her the same thing.. they told her just not to tell anyone the news and wait until the next appointment.. When she went back the next month they found the heartbeat and everything was fine..

This happeed also to my sister. She was pregnant and went in for an ultrasound and they said that there was no baby there. Then when she got it double checked, they found the baby hiding in the womb. Sadly she did lose that baby about 3 weeks after that, but do not worry yourself or your sister, try to stay positive. I know that there are a lot of reasons to belive that there are a lot of problems, but if you stay positive, you will get through it much easier. She has since had a healthy baby girl named Echo, she is now almost 9 months old. I have not had this same problem, but I have miscarried before, it is a very hard thing, especially if you really wanted the child. For me I still cherish all of the time that the baby was living in my womb, I may have never seen her face, but she is very much a part of my life, and I have a memorial for her as well as a rememberance day (her due date) each year. I write her letters and notes all of the time. Though she may never read them, it is a way that I have been dealing with my loss. I also do the same for my nephew that passed on (the above story of my sister). I hope that this is not the case for your sister and I wish you the best of luck, I hope that this has helped you in some way.

iv had five losses the first there was a sac and no baby in it i was 10 wks.
the last 4 were at six weeks i saw a small baby. but it was tiny and no heart beat.
your sister could be preg with nothing wrong it depends on how they did the scan (internal / external) how big she is as well as other factors
im 9 wks preg and had another scare at 7wks bleeding as your sister did no pain either and i was still very sick( i threw up on the way to hospital) had 1 scan that didnt show much so i was a little confused they sheduled 1 for the following fri i was 7+5 and i saw the baby with a strong heart beat etc.
they said first time i could have had interference from other body parts ( i have IBS which causes bowel problems they thought it was wind! lol that blocked the picture.)
i know how she feels and it is difficult to sit and wait it out. hopefully shell have another scan in about a week. between 6 and 8 weeks the baby doubles in size!)
good luck and hope it all goes well

My deep empathy for you both. I've had 5 miscarriages and there are few things that assault both your sense of loss and sense of worth in the same time.
But, she shouldn't count out being pregnant yet.
They should _definitely_ do another blood test, to see if she is pregnant. There's nothing to say she _isn't_, except that this doctor says he can't see a baby!
An Ultrasound tech is the best person to do the looking, with all respect to doctors. Techs do this 30-50 times a day and they are very slick at understanding what they are seeing. I've seen Techs see twins and be able to decipher Ultrasounds that had doctors puzzled.
Spotting is not unusual about the time of her first "regular" period after getting pregnant. It happened with both of my kids.
Does she have a regular doctor, or is she using an ER or Rapid Care for her prenatal care? She should contact Planned Parenthood -- they do more than just abortions, they do great pregnancy and wellness care, too. Or she can contact a local midwife.
Good luck.

I had a miscarriage, and then a toddler no longer long after, then yet another miscarriage. thinking i replaced into instructed i will possibly in no way get pregnant, I seen that one a blessing. 2 years later i bypass pregnant returned, and we had fun and concept we can possibly in no way get pregnant returned. Then #3 replaced into born 18 months after #2...WOW! Then #4 replaced into 15 months after #3, then 18 months later #5....we began questioning it replaced into some form of cosmic humorous tale! #6 replaced into born 2 years after #5, and variety seven (we call her seven of 7) replaced into born 2 years after #6. My SIL additionally confronted various miscarriages, 4 or 5 i think of, she stopped telling us after a on an identical time as. She have been given pregnant approximately ten years in the past however, and then popped out 5 in ten years. So we are the two quite satisfied with our little reward. i'm sorry to your loss, i do no longer understand what else to tell you different than to maintain your hopes up. I in no way concept i could be so blessed, and that i bear in mind those days of dread, each month of praying. We have been finished nuts throughout the time of our pregnancies, particularly on account that all of our miscarriages have been after 12 weeks...far into the trimester of 'risk-free practices'.

I'm so sorry to hear your sis is going thru this...
My niece went thru something similar, she lives three states away so I don't have every detail..but your case does sound familar to her's and she did have a miscarriage. I also had a bleeding prob with my second baby at nine weeks but it turned out to be a placental hematoma, the baby turned out fine, so it's hard to say...
Tell her to get plenty of rest and try not to worry until she sees the doc...It's great that your a good support for her...Just be there for her no matter the outcome...

Not all miscarriages have excessive bleeding. I miscarried with no cramps and light spotting. My spotting started out brown than turned red with clotted tissue. I hope this is not the case for you! Good luck!

It could be too small, or most likely she has had a chemical pregnancy which is a VERY early miscarriage. She definitely needs that HCG blood test done. Good luck to her!

well, when I miscaried, i was bleeding sooooooo bad. I went through a xtra super tampon every hour or so. My friend got light spotting when she was pregnet, and it ended up being a tear in her 'internal' wall (the 'v' word won't show up on yahoo) from with her boyfriend

it could be or couldnt. i was pregnet back in aug and they couldnt find my baby either. but i was stil pregnet. but usually that means that your baby is really small and its heart beat is low...and probally will lead to a misscarriage.tell her good luck.
