I have read lots of questions on here, from people against gay marriage and/or gay people just in general, basically just wanting people to agree with them. OK fine, i guess that is 1/2 of what this forum is about. But what i want to know is why when you disagree with them & state your opinion on whatever it is they asked, they automatically assume that you're angry, defensive, not listening, etc etc etc?
What makes their opinions "just my opinions" & anyone who disagrees with them is either picking on them, being mean or in that whole angry, defensive, etc. category?
I just want to know why they can't say they are "just expressing their feelings/opinions" & can't accept that's what others are doing as well?
BTW i am not gay, i am a bi woman, well not that either, i am a straight woman who happens to like to include a certain woman in some sexual activities. Put whatever label you want on that.
Basically i just believe in equality. OK done with my rant - have on with yours.

BTW i didn't say anyone had to agree with the lifestyle, i said allow someone to have a different opinion and not automatically assume something about them becuase they do have a different opinion.

some people are just to narrow minded to even consider other people's point of view. and to be fair I've seen some people that do state it's just their opinion and still get hateful answers form us. the people that do that are just as narrow minded as the bashers on here. i think we as a gay community would be more excepting of other people. but we are just like any other group and have some people that portray us in a negative light also

Some people believe they have the the authority to enforce morality on others when in reality, in a true free society, and an American society -- nobody has that right. America was founded on the basis of individual liberty and freedom. When a big group of angry people petition their government and enforce their morals through collective law and action, that is called tyranny of the majority. It infringes on their rights, and destroys liberty. Marriage laws are all unconstitutional. Getting the government out of the marriage business is NOT going to cause inter-species marriages or children marrying adults. It's just not going to happen, furthermore minors can't consent and neither can animals. These claims have no muscle behind them. These are just ad hominem arguments so that those against marriage-liberalization can attempt to win their arguments with out a debate. Truth is if you debate the Constitutional standpoint of marriage laws, those what marriage laws will lose every time. Government has no authority in marriage, non, notta, zip.

Some people come around to ask and are open for answers, because after all, this is Yahoo answers. However, some just come around to preach, and no matter how much answer we are going to give, there will be no openness or acceptance because they cannot be open since they are not really asking questions.. It just appears as if they were. It's a clever way of bashing actually.
But there are some who are genuinely interested in knowing, and although they may hold an opinion that is at the opposite end of the spectrum, you can sense from their language that they are open, and are willing to see what the other side believes in.

some people think that because they are straight, makes them the more dominate person, they think that homosexuality is some sort of diease, that could be cured.
Why is it that because you choose to be different, by not following the rest of the herd, make you a mortal sin, a person that soicty can not bare to see, because of their lifestlye.
I am a gay woman, who cant stand the fact, that i can't get married like my sister, only for the fact that i'm gay and she is not, we are almost the same person, yet she has more rights than me. When will this ever change. When will it be, that ALL MEN ARE CREAED EQUAL, will be acted upon.

I think the word that best describes the thinking and behavior you are talking about here is "egocentric". Simply put, such persons (and they exist in the gay community as well as in the straight) believe for whatever reason that they and/or their belief system lie at the center of the universe and that everything should revolve around them. When they see or even suspect that it doesn't they are bewildered, confused, finally angered and then lash out. Einstein showed early in the 20th century that there are no absolute standards of measurement anywhere in the universe. And that includes puny little Earth. I guess that message just hasn't filtered down yet to these people you are describing.

These people have very low self worth, to make themselves feel better they belittle us, they want their opinion heard and nobody elses'.
I just had an experience with one such person, even gave me 10 points just to tell me I was angry, please. It takes alot more than a moron to get me angry. LOL I try to ignore these types of people, but sometimes it is impossible and I have to answer. I don't take anyone's garbage. We have rights just like everyone else. Anyway, great question, equality is great, have a good day. :)

Like someone else has said, sometimes one's passion is so strong, and they believe in their opinion so completely that it becomes fact in their mind, therefore someone's differing point of view is taken as an attack or as plain falsehood, and the one feels he has to defend his belief. I think there is no such thing as a Gay community, you are not a group. I believe it is folly to label homosexuals or bisexuals or transgendered etc. as you would label, hispanics, blacks or asians. It is like labeling people who prefer macadamia nut over sugar cookies, or chocolate over vanilla, It is a Choice. A confused, deeply misunderstood choice but a choice nonetheless. WAKE UP!! You are or never will be born "that way" it is unnatural. That is my opinion. I believe it to be true. but some may disagree.

many do it because they can't think outside their religion. their faith is no longer a positive thing, its hinderance.
others are too full of hatred for any logically, civilized discussion.
some still feel scared because science/medical fields, politics, and even some religious groups are started to see that there are gay people- its not ones fault- there is no need to deny someone their rights if they are a tax paying citizen
