in night times the clouds over the big towns are appears in red color, what is the reason for this.

They are being illuminated by the city lights.

It's an example of "light pollution" and there are very few stars visible from cities - even on the clearest nights - for that same reason. During the big northeast blackout not long ago people remarked on how many more stars they could see.

The sun reflects light on water particles in the atmosphere making the clouds shine bright on sertain days depending how bright or close the sun is to the earth.

Its the light reflecting off the water molecules so i have heard. The reason for the red and other colors is the pollution.......thats why LA and Arizona have such beautiful sunsets!

Othewise it is just radiated light energy off the earth's surface.
