First, put the numbers in order.

2,8,16,21,25,31,31,45
The two in the middle are 21 and 25. Add them together and divide by 2; you get 23.

second prob:

0.1,0.3,0.5, 1.1,1.1,1.4,1.8

To find the median, rank order the scores from lowest to highest and select the score above which and below which 1/2 of the scores fall. If there are an even number of scores, take the mean (arithmetic average) of the two middle scores.

Your first question:
2, 8, 16, 21 -- 25, 31, 31, 45

The median is the mean of 21 + 25 = (21+25)/2 = 46/2 = 23 C

Your second question:

.1, .3, .5, - - - 1.1, - - - 1.1, 1.4, 1.8 One half of the scores fall above 1.1 and one half fall below it, therefore 1.1 is the median. B
