Of course, they should be allowed. Does America stand for freedom or what? This world is dominated by technology, electronics being the primary result. Games are the best mechanisms for learning, thus companies invest large amounts of money in games such as America's Army, for recruiting, retention, and training. Games are also an excellent way to escape the stress of learning and deadlines and to relax. All of these have a place in various aspects of learning and should be well-balanced with a solid system of accountability and a creative system of educational games.

The problem is that most people believe in the concept of coercive education, which doesn't work and actually does a great deal of intellectual and psychological harm. The other problem is that those who promote coercive education see only anarchy as the alternative. The middle ground leaves these naive "black-and-white" idealistic worlds and explores a large variety of "grey" realistic worlds which acknowledge human freedom and diversity. I favor learner-initiated systems, with teacher facilitation, results-based rewarding schemes, etc.

Obviously, students should be taught to turn their cell phones off when in meetings (like class), but all of these electronics are very useful and appropriate in a variety of situations.

Cellphones-No. They are distractions. In classes some students are rude enough to make calls DURING Class and often go off during class. I can understand using them for emergenecies, but all schools have a phone in the main office for students to use. So...I think schools should have more phones for students to use in privacy and say they're calling their parents etc. not to be used for calling friends etc.

Ipods and games-Not in class but during lunch yes. When I was a senior in high school my friends and I would always bring our CD players, DS's, PSP's, gameboy advance etc. (our art teacher let us stay in her class all during lunch.) Otherwise, they're disruptions to students I think...so only for breaks or during lunch.

I think electronics should be allowed in school. When I was in high school, I always had my cell phone and CD player. they should be used according to the rules, though.

it would be nice to have them at school and be able to use them during break periods, but of course you will always have those students who do not follow the rules. So, unfortunatly no they should not be allowed because no matter how hard you try to enforce the rules, students will still use these electronic devices during class; deffering their attention from their education.

Definitely cell phones as for the others I would say no if the parents paid for them because if they are stolen, lost or damaged then its money loss for the parent. If the student paid for their expensive lil gadget then they should be able to take them as long as its used out of class.

No. These are purely distractions to your education. School is for learning, not playing.
