This question is for those who have gone through a D&C Procedure. I had the procedure done on Friday. There was blood (naturally). The next two days after, I barely had any bleeding I was already on pantiliners. Today is now day 6 and I noticed I would get clots of blood. Is that normal? How long did you bleed for after the procedure?

I am still on pantiliners, but i went from barely spotting my 2nd & 3rd day to filling a pantiliner every 4 hours or so. I thought if it's like a period, the bleeding shoudl subside, but it goes thru intervals. The clots are NOT big, just a little substance, nothing too alarming for me. But Im on day 6, and Im still bleeding. I was just curious on how long it took some people. Thanks for your responses!

I have actually had two D&Cs within the past year and a half. I miscarried twice at three months pregnant and had to have the procedure done both times, as well. With the first, I only bled for the first three or four days and it was not very heavy. With the second, I bled heavily for what seemed to be a week(with some clots). But, with both procedures, I bled from the time I woke up in recovery. You may just want to let your OB/GYN know your symptoms, just to be on the safe side. And try to relax, everything should be fine!

Have you called the doctor? I have had a d&c after I delivered my baby at 21 weeks and lost him. Everything was fine until the 4 day I started bleeding bad and had clots. I was hemmoraging and had to be admitted for 4 days.
If you are going through 1 pad every hour or two you need to call the doctor immediately. If the doctor is at a clinic or you cannot get a response, go to the emergency room.
I am not a doctor, however I have been through the mill. That information came from my high risk doctor. You know your body you should listen to it wont lie to you.
Hope you are ok, I will be saying a prayer for you!

I too had a d&c (actually I had a d&s). I did have some bleeding after which subsided in 1 day and a half, went away, but came back. I called the doctor and they said that when that happens, it's usually a sign that you're doing too much. They told me to lay down/put my feet up and relax. I tried doing that and when I did, again the bleeding went away, when I started doing stuff again, it came back... I finally just decided that I have a family I need to take care of , I needed to get back to life and the bleeding did subside eventually. I had some clots but nothing to alarming. You should call your doctor and let them know. They are your best referance.

I'm sorry you had to go through that. Back several years ago after mine, I recall bleeding in like sections. Maybe a couple days light, then heavy, then clotting.
If you are worried, consult your doctor or even give his nurse a call. But I believe it's your body's way of getting back together after that process. The clotting and all I mean.

I think it is supposed to last the length of a normal period. The clots are disconcerting. I would call your OBGYN or whomever performed the procedure. Clots could mean that your body is stopping some pretty serious bleeding naturally, or it could mean other health issues. Either way I would speak with you OBGYN.

I had one, and it lasted about 4 days. I had NO clots or bleeding after that. If the blood is bright red, or there seems to be a lot, go back in and see the doc.

I bled for a couple of weeks but just spotty blood. Nothing like a period. If you are having heavy clots I would contact your doctor. They told me if I had big clots that I should call.
Good luck
