Last time I renewed my Michigan drivers license (after moving back to Michigan from out of state) it took almost a month before I got it.

Me too...when I went back to that place from another state it took FOREVER.... i mean forever. Did you know in other states they don't require you to be torchured by coming to the 'secretary of state' every couple years but actually issue you one that is valid for like 50 yrs? hahahaha now that's the way to do it!!
