now I have gotten answer back to my first question. That of why is it so hard for a combat vet to find jobs worth while. Now Mike A made a good point. but on the other end he was a officer in the military already having a degree. so what if you are not a officer in the military just an enlisted soldier who was climbing the ranks only to be put out do to the injurys that the soldier got while in.Also if you are front line infrantry what are the choices. yeah I know go to school learn something new . That's all good but you still have support your self some way. Getting out the military and you have your resume with your military carrer and that carrer was nothing but front line training for combat. yeah I know the jobs the say police, security but if you have injury that limit you from performing your job to it's fullness. What is one to do

Many ex-military continue to serve in law enforcement. As a retired locomotive engineer, I can say there is a relatively high number of vets that work for the railroad, hough I don't know thw reason why. You may want to check this out.

Best of luck to you, and thank you for your service.

You make the best of what you got and what you can do. I was in the same boat as you after I returned from Vietnam. I was a Sgt. ground pounder and spent most of my time in the Elephant Valley, Hue, the Arizona Territory as we called it. I was also wound a a couple occasions. When I got out jobs were scarces, but I found one by telling the organizatin that I would work for them for free for two weeks and if they liked what I did then they would hire me, if not, then I would move on. They hired me. It was a meaniingless job but it brought in some money. I went to school at the same time. Then I found another job that worked nights. So now I had to meanignless jobs and went to school. I don't rememeber sleeping, lol! I kept at it, from one job to another better one. I got an eduction and got a better job and kept working at it. I am now a Vice President of an oil company. All it takes is to adapt, perservere and overcome, of course I wa a Marine!
